Pittsburgh Penguins @ New Jersey Devils 20/01/11

Penguins 0, Devils 2 - Final

There's not much I can say about this game.  We are near the top of the league; they ARE at the bottom.  Anyone guess the outcome?  Think we won?  You would be wrong if you did.  There's not much I can say about this game.  An infuriating game for all Pens fans.

So, do you want the good before I bring more details about the bad?  Yes?  Okay then.... Brent Johnson got a game between the pipes, with Marc-Andre Fleury as his back-up (although that isn't so good for the Flower).  We also got a little excitement in the 3rd, from Maxime Talbot.  He landed himself five minutes for fighting, after landing a couple of solid punches on Tim Sestito; but if this was an effect to rally the Penguins, as the Superstar is known to do, it came a little too late.

The funny thing about this game, the Pens had plenty of time to level out the score.  The two Devils' goals came in the first period; at 1.22, from Rolston, and at 9.51, from Palmieri.  The Jersey tender, Martin Brodeur (1st star) - who I adore, when he isn't playing the Penguins! - achieved his fourth shutout of the season, and his 114th career shutout; that is an NHL record!

Looks like Penguins aren't the strongest team in the League of late.  We had just gotten used to playing without Crosby, then Malkin's out.  But from the sounds of things, they will have to get used to playing without their two star forwards, as it is uncertain when they will be returning to the line-up.

We'll see if Pittsburgh can pull it out of the bag against the 'Canes on Saturday.... we can only hope that Jordan Staal wants to beat his brother, Eric Staal (Captain for the 'Canes), enough to get us a win!
